Major Moscow's Attacks Disrupt Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while local people in the city's east were left without electricity and faced disruption to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was killed in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has increased strikes on energy facilities over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a online statement.

He said that 450 drones and over thirty projectiles attacked the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A young boy lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The strikes follow nights of aerial attacks in the area, parts of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the national power system, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
